The Kerry Bog Village

The Kerry Bog Village Museum, located on the beautiful 'Ring of Kerry', gives people an insight into how people lived and worked in Ireland in the 18th Century. The village is the only one of its kind in Europe.The village was well researched prior to being recreated.Great care was taken to ensure the dwellings that visitors see before them, are exact replica's of those used in Ireland in the early 1800's. Old sites were visited, old ruins measured, and old documents consulted.A tribute to the Turf cutters of Ireland. Leave behind the stress and strain of modern day living, relax, and let us take you on a walk through the life and times of people long forgotten!!

Rossbeigh Beach

Rossbeigh Beach is a beautiful unspoilt beach located just 3km from Forest View House which offers 6km of uninterrupted beach. Attributed with the Blue Flag status the beach is perfect for swimming, surfing, windsurfing, sea kayaking, canoeing, and walking. This beach is guarded by a trained Lifeguard throughout the summer months. It also offers a fabulous children's playground along with a tennis court, a combined basketball and soccer court and a picnic area.

Gleensk Wood

Situated on the Ring of Kerry road overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with panoramic views of the Dingle peninsula across to Mount Brandon. The main tree species are Sitka spruce with lodgepole pine and Monterey pine. The local fauna include most of the common small mammals as well as common bird species. Sea birds can be observed from the cliffs as can seals and the occasional otter. The facilities include a lay-by, forest and sea walks, picnic sites and viewing points.

Glenbeigh Wood

Situated on the hill dominating the village of Glenbeigh. The main tree species are broadleaves include birch, mountain ash and scattered oak while conifers are represented by grand fir, lodgepole pine, Scots pine, Corsican pine and Japanese larch. The local fauna include fox, badger, red squirrel and woodcock. There is a wildlife sanctuary nearby. The facilities include 1 km of old railway line once in operation between Tralee and Caherciveen is included in the forest walk.

Glenbeigh is a walker's paradise, offering all levels of walks and hill-walks. You can enjoy a relaxing stroll on Rossbeigh beach or a nature walk through the forest. For the more experienced walker you could complete the Seefin Loop Walk (approx. 3 hours duration). There are also countless walks in nearby Caragh Lake, Glencar and Kells.

Horse Trekking

Located just 2km from Forest View house there is an AIRE approved horse trekking centre. Burke's Horse Trekking Centre has established a reputation in recent years as a trekker's paradise. Burke's Trekking Centre is a friendly, family run business which caters for riders of all levels. Routes can include a leisurely gallop along the beautiful Rossbeigh beach, a trek in the mountains overlooking the village or a gentle stroll along the country roads.

Dooks Golf Club is a beautiful links course located just 5km from Forest View House. Dooks is surrounded by fabulous scenery with the McGillucuddy Reeks to the east, the hills of Glenbeigh to the west and the Slieve Mish and Dingle Mountains to the north. It is a stunning location for a golf course.


Glenbeigh is located on the shores of the Atlantic complimented by the surrounding rivers and lakes. If you are a beginner or a keen angler Glenbeigh is the place for you. Rossbeigh can cater for all shore anglers be it beach-casting spinning, plugging or saltwater fly fishing. For rivers, the upper and lower Caragh River and also the Behy provide superb fishing.

Glenbeigh Festival and Races

The Glenbeigh Races were first held on Rossbeigh Strand in 1924.In 1996 the Glenbeigh Races were resurrected.The races have grown from the initial one day event to become a two day meeting. Glenbeigh Races is now one of the biggest race meetings on the Horse and Pony Racing Calendar.
